FORTRESS AND HABANO'S FACTORY
The fortress of “San Carlos de la Cabaña” is the biggest built by the Spaniards in Latin America, together with the Morro they were built to defend the entrance of the Habana bay. In their best moments there were around 100 ships waiting to sail. The city views are unique from inside their walls.
The fortress was also used to shoot a gunshot at 9 o’clock PM announcing to the inhabitants of the city that the doors of the wall were closed and everybody should wait the following day to enter or to leave. In our days this ceremony is carried out with typical suits of the time being the delight of young and adults every day. It is one of the many places that our clients can mix with the Cuban town.
Centuries later when the Rebel army entered into Havana in 1959 the then major of the rebellious army Ernesto CHE Guevara also take position in this fortress and established his barracks during a time.
During the visit to the fortress all the details that relates their history can be appreciated, as well as belongings of El CHE used by him during the time he lived there.
