International Diving Center Cayo Blanco Playa Ancon - Trinidad

Founded in 1514, Trinidad is a city sleeping in the past, with its streets, houses and palaces preserved through time, where each one is a monument in itself, thats why its called the Museum City in Cuba and declared Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO. Trinidad is a center with an unique environment, where three tourist attractions very hard hard to find get together: the colonial city, the mountain and the sea.

Towards the Southern part of the city, 13 km (8 miles) away, you can find the Ancon Península, a long arm getting inside the Caribbean Sea, With two picturesque beaches: María Aguilar and Ancón. across from the peninsula and towards the East, up to Cayo Blanco, the dive site is situated, with a privileged location because there is always a quiet dive zone whatever the direction and strength of the wind can be.

Description of the bottom: The waters around the Cuban archipelago are characterized by their gentleness – mild tides and no strong currents -, their warmth over 24°C all year round, their virgin conditions – no pollution and well – preserved bottoms -, the diversity of its underwater flora and fauna, and the total absence of aggressive animals. The diving zone has three remarkable underwater structures. The first one in a zone where the platform is narrow with web defined terraces where there are sandy bottoms with low coral patches and ridges reaching up to 5 meters ( 16 feet) height, getting into the drop-off up to 25-30 meters ( 82-98 feet) deep, where the wall starts. The second one is in a zone where the platform goes down by steps, and the tirad one is located near Cayo Blanco, characterized by a bottom of big ridges and wide channels that in some sites are closed in their top forming real tunnels. The sessile fauna is very typical, with big sponges of real varied colors and shapes, more than 40 species of corals, including walls with real real forests of the valuable black coral. Deep water, branch and feather-like gorgonians and sea fans give an special attraction to each dive session.

In this zone there are two hotels for divers and their companions: Ancón and Costasur, with 279 and 131 rooms respectively, all supplied with prevate bathroom, air conditioner, telephone and satellite TV. Swimming pool, beach, waterspots, tourist animation and night centers are also available. There are car and moto rental and medical services.
